Unfortunately this didn't help. I tried it again and that option does not appear for me. I have two choices only.to Print or E-Mail.
Send To is not an option for me. However, I think it is only a problem with international maps. I live in Germany so all my map requests are for places in Germany. Just to check, I did directions for two addresses in the states and you are correct, there is an option to send to GPS.
This same option is not there if requesting directions in Germany (an I imagine many other international locations). Thanks any way.

After importing the GPX file created from GPS Visualizer (per your excellent advice, Nater2k2) into either Garmin Mapsource or BaseCamp I get every turn as a Waypoint but not in the order of the route created in GoogleMaps originally. I cannot reorder them in those programs, and when joining them to create a route I get a jumble of short directions all over the map. I must be missing a step in the conversion. The GPS Visualizer text file is in the logical route order. Any thoughts? Designr317 20/2/2010, 12:30 น. The favorite answer is correct-you have to have the address you want in the search window in order to see the gps option.
This has to be a glitch. What's more, if you have a bunch of points in a 'MyMaps' map, you cannot download a point to your gps by control-clicking the point and choosing send. That's definitely a glitch. What else is that contextual menu for? Finally, you ought to be able to download all of the points in a MyMaps map at once.
I have a dozen sites I want to see in London all nicely gathered into MyMaps. But in order to get them onto my Garmin, I have to select each one, paste it into the address bar, and then save it with 3-4 clicks each. It should be more elegant. NeoSweden 27/7/2010, 16:34 น. Short answer, when you are signed into google maps, the only option from the 'Send' button is email. If you are not signed in, the Send button has Email, Phone, Car, GPS options. I don't know why.
Long answer, if you need to sign into Maps to select your saved maps (which seems to eliminate the send options), once the map and route is what you want, sign out. The page will refresh with the same map and route. Then since you are not signed in, the 4 send options appear. (This solution was used with both Firefox and Safari) steve.w.cho 23/8/2010, 18:39 น. Nuvi 3760T($400) most advanced GPS from Garmin but have interface issue with Windows.
Everything looks perfect such as Google map route SEND to Garmin but after all there is no favorite route as I downloaded. It looks like Garmin doesn't support Google Map Route. buy TomTom. Also, Voice Command is joke - doesn't support American English? - then support what Language? So nicely made, sleek design iPhone like touch screen - not like as Tomtom's pressure sensitive. Anything you want to interface with Google Map - at least I know - don't waste time with Garmin.
I returned Garmin and keep my old cheap Tomtom ($95). TwoPooches 8/3/2011, 5:26 น. Garmin does not support Google My Maps anymore. You need to use Map Quest but Map Quest sucks because it will only let you load 26 addresses at a time. I had 700 addresses i needed to get into Gamin so i Did the Following - Go here First - Enter all your addresses ( this puts Lat.
On your addresses and saves it as a gpx file save it to MY Documents then go here - Download POI. Once you download the POI it will ask you were to save your custon POI - (In Garmin device) then it will ask to select your device ( you should have your device plugged into the computer) select your device from drop down menu. NEXT choose Install New custom POI's to your device.NEXT Select folder were you saved the gpx file.hit next and it should download to the device. If it doesn't work you can spend a week on it like i did or call garmin POI support or Go Old school and Buy a Map. SteveInBrooklyn 22/5/2011, 16:19 น. I know of another easier way to send the ROUTE you create in gmaps, over to your Garmin.
Lookup the program TYRE (Trace Your Route Everywhere). It's a brilliant program for Garmins and TomToms. I used it plenty when I had a TomTom and it's working just as great with my Garmin Zumo 660. TYRE only works in Windows, but I have an Intel Mac with Bootcamp installed so I can run WinXP.
Another thing, make sure you have the most updated version of Internet Explorer that you can get on your system. I updated mine to IE8. You dont have to use IE (I use FireFox) when laying out your gmap route, but the author of TYRE says his program relies on pieces of IE. Get your Garmin all setup with your pc/mac first (unlock, register, updated, yadda yadda) I had to do it again in Bootcamp. Anyway, when it's ready, connect your Garmin to your pc/mac, fire up TYRE (wait a bit and a small box should show up to let you select your Garmin GPS model), fire up gmaps and make your route. After you make your route, it's a good idea to email it to yourself so it will always be around.
I use gmail and I have tons of motorcycle routes ive saved over the past 5 years. In the upper right corner of the gmaps page are 3 little icons (printer, envelope, link) click on the link icon and then youll then see the link to that exact route you just made already highlighted (.).
If it's not, highlight it and copy it (right click). Now go over to TYRE. Click on File. Import from website.then paste your link in the top box and then click Import. Youll see gmaps come to life with your route you created all inside of TYRE.
Now at the lower right bottom click on Import. Then TYRE will go back to it's front page/screen and youll see Garmin at the top row between Waypoints and Tools. Click it and then click on Send to Garmin.
After it sends it, you can close TYRE and safely remove/eject your Garmin from the system properly (you can leave the usb in if you want). Then your Garmin should reboot and you will be asked to Update New User Data or Import data.
Something similar to that. Do that and look for ROUTE in the list of things to be updated. You want to touch on that. Your new route will be named New File and and when you touch it, it will calculate it's importation. You can go in and rename it but be sure to look over the route and compare it to your gmaps original to see if it lines up. Garmin sometimes makes shortcuts, so be sure to lay down enough Destinations in gmaps.

If your route in the Garmin isnt perfect, you can edit it with the Garmin or delete it, add more Destinations in gmaps, and re-import it. Jpreseme 12/8/2011, 9:21 น. I found the easy answer and it is sooo simple. First go to your Google Maps where you have saved your route or destination 2. Go to Link icon which looks like a chain at the top right and open it 3.
Copy the URL complete string Now 4. Go to GPS visualizer at 5. Open the program 6.
In the command box select output to GPX is ON 7. Forget all the other settings and go to the Provide URL or file on the web box 8. Now paste your saved google Maps URL into the right hand empty box 9. Press the convert button above and wait 10. A prompt will ask to Run or Save this file - Save it - it will now download to your download directory Now 11.
Open Your Garmin Basecamp or Mapsource program 12. File - IMPORT - Select where you have saved the file and open it 13. The new route will be added to your maps lists under a long numerical number in a new folder which you can rename later 14. Click on the new folder 15. There is you route now on Garmin shown as a light gray track you may need to zoom in to see it better 16.
If you are happy with the route then upload it to your GPS Hope this helps it was really easy and quick, Every adventure starts with good planning michrony, 7:21 น. I've struggled with Google for a long time and given up on it. You're much better off using Mapquest than Google Maps, if you're intention is to download a complete route to your Garmin GPS. I've a Garmin Streetpilot and I've never had a problem. I attach my Garmin to the PC, have Garmin Communicator installed, start Mapquest, and create a route. Up in the right corner is the Send button.
Select GPS and voila, done! Google Maps is far superior if you want all the pretty images on your PC, but in real life, that doesn't get you from point A to point B.
For that, you need Mapquest. Snafu 4WD 2/12/2011, 14:45 น. SNAFU, I'm not familar with your model. I have an older Streetpilot 2820. With this box, routes uploaded are accessed thru Tools My Data Routes. At this point, the 2820 has a couple options, Edit/Review Routes or Navigate Saved Route. In my opinion, the Edit/review option is useless, since my screen is too small to see enough detail to edit.
So I just use the Navigate option. If I uploaded correctly, then the route(s) show up in a list that I can pick.
The route is loaded up and off you go! In terms of editing the route, I always find that I need to edit the route, so I find it much easier to export that same route back into the Garmin Roadtrip tool, tweek it, then re-export back to the the GPS.
That's the way I do it and I'm thinking you should be able to do similar things. You just have to play around with it. Hope this helps! BADTEX, 10:06 น. Road trekker your info was great, but. After I made a route/track (i picked from one town to the next then grabed and dragged the route/track to alter it) I did like you said, (2. Clicked on the Link (3.
Copied the URL, (4. Opened GPS visualizer and pasted it.and saved the file. All of this went with no problems, But. When I open my Base camp to import it, its not there. Its on my desk top, and when I click on it to open it and it ask me what program to open it with I tell it Basecamp, it opens Basecamp. BUT ITS NOT THERE.
Just a map with no route/track. Some one help!!!

Many Garmin GPS devices have microSD card slots that give the units extra storage capacity. However, the microSD card must have enough available space to accommodate the map installation. Garmin GPS devices are shipped with a base map of the country where the units are sold. For other countries, or for detailed maps of trails, additional maps may be purchased from the Garmin online store. When you install these downloadable maps, you have the option of installing these maps to a microSD card installed on the device. Open File Explorer. In Windows 7, you can click the Windows “Start” button and select “Computer.” In Windows 10, click the 'Folder' icon in the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
Double-click the “Garmin” icon. The microSD card drive appears under the Garmin icon. Right-click on the microSD card entry and select“Properties.” Check the available space on the microSD card. You will only be able to install a downloadable map if the microSD card has enough available space to accommodate the installation. Log in on the My Garmin site with your Garmin user ID and password (see Resources). Click the tab labeled “Manage Maps.” The available maps for your device will be listed. Click the “Download Map” icon for the desired map.
The size of the map will be listed along with the description. Make sure that the microSD card contains enough available space to accommodate the map download. Click the “Add to Device' option provided on the download receipt to send the downloadable map to the device. Click on the Garmin device. If the device is not shown as an option, click the “Find Device” button. The Communicator plugin will locate the connected GPS.
Click the link labeled “More Options.” Click the “MicroSD Card' option to send the map to the microSD card on the device. Click “Continue” and accept the Terms of Service. The map will be downloaded and installed to the selected microSD card.
